Materials Manager

We’re changing the way Australia generates its energy, are you ready for a change?The ProjectUGL and CPB Contractors have been awarded the early works contract to support Powerlink’s delivery of CopperString 2032. This $5 billion iconic project will initially be approximately 840 kilometres of new transmission line running from just south of Townsville to Mount Isa that will connect Queensland’s North West Minerals Province to the national electricity grid. The project scope includes:

• 500 kilovolt (kV) transmission line from just south of Townsville to Hughenden
• 330kV transmission line from Hughenden to Cloncurry
• 220kV transmission line from Cloncurry to Mount Isa, up to six new substation sites.

This exciting project will commence construction in 2024 and we are currently looking for an experienced to join the team based in Brisbane.What will a day in this role look like:

• Manage the Procurement activities ensuring support for the project team with maintenance activities, advice and direction to the Procurement staff.
• Supply direction to the Procurement team and implement best practice procedure efficiencies to lower cost
• KPI Development for individual and team to establish and maintain effective outputs
• Assist and manage procurement functions in support of all Inventory and Maintenance activities.
• Ensure department processes are efficient and cost effective while maintaining quality, safety, company and regulatory
• Seek out product and technical knowledge on a routine basis and encourage staff to apply this concept into their personal development.
• Ensure that our policy and procedures on a regular basis are reviewed and update to ensure that we continue to be compliance
• Provide suitable instruction, mentoring, training, guidance and direction to all staff in the Procurement team.

• 5 – 10 years’ previous construction experience in a similar role
• Trade qualification and/or training in building, construction, project management highly regarded
• Proven management and leadership abilities and management experience of subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour
• Supervisory experience and proven management experience
• Leadership and partnership skills, e.g., in being able to galvanise those around and lead teams, mentoring of direct reports and next levels to achieve outcomes
• Decision making and negotiation skills
• People management skills, e.g., able to manage work and performance of multiple teams and subcontractors to achieve outcomes
• Conflict resolution skills, understanding of impact of self on others, Influencing skills
• Effective financial, cost and expenditure management skills
• Effective time management skills including sequencing of own work and resource time management
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills
• Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and SharePoint
