INTRODUCTION TO THE COLLEGE

Mother Teresa Catholic College is a Catholic co-educational College registered to enrol students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 in the extensive and rapidly growing suburb of Baldivis, situated about 60 kilometres South of Perth in the City of Rockingham. Mother Teresa Catholic College is an inclusive learning community. Our significant pedagogy is Inquiry Learning. Our dedicated teachers produce programs of work that allow  our students to explore questions they have and engage in the curriculum in meaningful ways. 

The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to obtain a National Criminal History Check from the Department of Education and maintain a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) during their employment.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

  • Support the Catholic ethos of our College and act in a manner supportive of our mission 
  • Actively contribute towards the maintenance of the Catholic ethos of the College through a manner of life and stated beliefs that are in keeping with the teachings of the Catholic Church 
  • Provide direction, supervision and care for students 
  • Deliver the curriculum with passion an innovation

  • Effectively engage and manage students.

REQUIRED SKILLS (SELECTION CRITERIA)

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and abilities to use effectively use iPads in a classroom setting.
  • Have a strong and active personal faith commitment.
  • Be passionate about teaching and committed to continuous professional growth and development.
  • Be dedicated to the advancement of each student’s holistic development and committed to providing the highest standard of care and education.
  • Be willing to be involved in the life of the College, including involvement in out-of- school activities.
  • Be flexible, enthusiastic, and able to work collaboratively with colleagues and participate in inter-disciplinary planning and pedagogy.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, communication skills and proficiency in integrating technology into the daily classroom environment.
  • Have knowledge of and willingness to embrace and facilitate inquiry-learning pedagogy and collaborate with colleagues in the planning, session facilitation and evaluation of Challenge Based Learning.
  • Willingness to teach ATAR Mathematics or a desire to upskill to teach ATAR Mathematics.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • BEd/BSci/BEng (with DipEd) or higher degree (required) with a major in Mathematics.
  • Current TRBWA Registration
  • Successful applicants will require a Working with Children Check

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
All staff are required to comply with all Catholic Education Western Australia Limited policies and College procedures, which include but are not limited to directives on child protection, health and safety, acceptable use of ICT, and conduct.

CATHOLIC ETHOS
All staff are required to actively support the Catholic ethos of the College in keeping with the teachings of the Catholic Church.

PASTORAL CARE

Actively participate in pastoral care and wellbeing programs and other co‐curricular activities. Some co‐curricular activities will occur outside normal school hours. 

Be able to use your personal and problem‐solving skills to manage and work collaboratively through conflict, to resolution. 

LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
The College requires all employees to obtain a current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check from the Department of Education and a Working with Children Check, which will both need to be provided on their first day of work.
