Your new role
- Ensure adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, Rail Safety Management, and relevant Statutory Legislation, including the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, and other pertinent rail site regulations.
- Collaborate with Supervisors and teams to guarantee safety compliance and foster a secure work environment.
- Conduct field leadership activities to minimise safety risks.
- Participate in safety meetings and assigned projects, analyse incidents, and implement necessary changes.
- Plan and execute maintenance projects while considering safety, environmental, cost, quality, and engineering factors.
- Manage project activities, including scoping, budgets, and documentation for track and civil assets.
- Lead planning activities with support from internal stakeholders.
- Ensure the use of risk assessment techniques throughout the planning and execution phases.
- Develop and review maintenance and engineering standards, procedures, and work instructions.
- Provide technical guidance to maintenance personnel and partners.
- Address issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Investigate Signalling and communication incidents, conduct Route Cause Analysis (RCA), and propose improvement measures.
- Manage suppliers, maintenance partners, and third-party contractors as per contractual obligations.
- Complete Quality Assurance processes, including ITPs, method statements, site records, audits, and other project documentation.
- Participate in various planning forums, supplier reviews, technical services meetings, and operational excellence working groups.
What you'll need to succeed
- Tertiary Degree in Relevant Engineering discipline
- Previous experience in rail maintenance/ construction or related industry
- Demonstrated experience in planning and monitoring of resources within the area of accountability
- Knowledge of Signalling Systems and equipment
- Skilled in auditing, quality improvement and Route Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and professional presentation skills
- Strong planning & organisation skills
- Effective problem-solving, conflict-management skills and experience in leading a safety culture
