Skills
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a design/engineering role with development of electromechanical products
- Experience in leadership, mentoring, coaching and directing
- Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with internal colleagues & external contractors and suppliers
- Sound understanding of Mechanical Engineering, product development & testing for high volume manufacture
- Medical sector experience is highly desirable, but not essential
Technical experience
- Knowledge of design for production processes including Injection Moulding, LSR Moulding, Compression Moulding, Blow Moulding, Extrusion (rubber and metal), Sheet Metal, Metal Casting and different rapid prototyping methods.
- Competency in 3D CAD modelling
- Ability to creating 2D drawings and specifications
- Competency in conducting DFMEA, FAI, GD&T, GR&R, & tolerance analysis
- Provide first line management & leadership to the team, setting KPI’s and scheduled reviews
- Responsible for monitoring staff wellbeing and enabling a safe and supportive culture within the team
- Aid Project Lead and Program Manager in providing resources aligned with the skill sets required to achieve the project objectives
- Contribute to mechanical design & development of new and existing products, from concept through to manufactured product
- Produce design-related documentation to meet internal QMS requirements in compliance with standards such as ISO13485, ISO14971
- Interpret upstream project inputs and system requirements and develop verifiable mechanical requirements
- Develop design verification and validation test protocols, plans and reports
- Ability to apply practical & creative thinking to solving complex problems
- Participation in the generation of new product and/or system design specifications.
- Develop and implement ideas into CAD models using 3D CAD
- Liaise with the NPI and manufacturing team to improve product quality, reliability and manufacturability
