Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fixed Plant Mechanical Supervisor to join our dynamic team at our Iron Valley operations on an 8/6, roster. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operation of all fixed plant mechanical systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and safety. The Fixed Plant Mechanical Supervisor will lead a team of skilled technicians, coordinate maintenance activities, and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency of our fixed plant operations.
Responsibilities:
Supervision and Leadership:
- Lead and manage a team of mechanical technicians, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
- Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the Mechanical Maintenance team.
Maintenance Planning and Execution:
- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans for all fixed plant mechanical systems.
- Coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability.
- Ensure compliance with maintenance schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.
Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution:
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues efficiently, minimizing impact on production.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to develop long-term solutions to recurring problems.
Equipment Inspection and Monitoring:
- Conduct regular inspections of fixed plant mechanical equipment to identify potential issues and recommend preventive measures.
- Implement condition monitoring programs to assess equipment health and predict maintenance needs.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and inventory.
- Generate reports on maintenance KPIs, equipment reliability, and resource utilization.
Budget Management:
- Assist in the development and management of the maintenance budget.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize spending on spare parts and maintenance resources.
Continuous Improvement:
- Implement best practices in maintenance processes and procedures.
- Propose and lead initiatives to improve equipment reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Relevant trade qualification.
- Proven experience as a Fixed Plant Mechanical Supervisor or in a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of fixed plant mechanical systems, including crushers, conveyors, and related equipment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- C Class drivers’ licence.
