We have a new opportunity open for a full-time Mechanical Tradesperson in our Gladstone workshop. The Mechanical Tradesperson will be responsible for teardowns, repairs, assemblies, modifications, calibrations, and diagnostics of various mechanical and safety valves from different brands. Additionally, they will handle associated paperwork, execute valve diagnostics utilizing digital control valve technologies like AMS/Valve link & Valve link mobile, and produce PSV testing reports for customer submissions..
This position will consist of 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Working in a mechanical workshop environment (tooling, equipment, lifting devices, forklift operations, manual handling) with field service where required.
- Disassemble / Assembly of new / used equipment or repaired equipment.
- Documentation of repair / testing / assembly activities – cause of failure, actions taken, and parts used, labour hours, etc.
- Customer communication – technical assistance, troubleshooting, parts write-up / determining disposition of repairs and root causes of failures.
- Final inspection and completion of inspection report.
- Conduct valve diagnostic benchmarking on all service repairs and log in central database.
- Prepare Diagnostic and recommended action reports to customers for review and action.
- Initiate spare parts (ordering & picking) relating to value-add service jobs.
- Technicians will ensure that details of the valve, positioner, actuator, instrument, or safety valve are recorded properly for future use. These include but may not be limited to; type, size, action, trim, serial numbers, details of instillation (process and flow direction), any installed peripherals (solenoid, volume booster/tank etc.). Details of any on site modifications should be recorded.
- Participation in field service calls, as required, at customer sites.
The successful candidate will possess:
- A passion for hands-on mechanical work
- A forklift license (mandatory)
- A current manual driver's license
- Basic administration and computer skills
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively
- A positive, motivated, and inclusive attitude
- Commitment to maintaining excellent housekeeping standards and workshop organization
- Willingness to learn, demonstrate a positive attitude, and prioritise personal safety and safety of others around them.
