Job description

As a Mechanic/Diesel Fitter with Council, you will work as part of a dedicated team and be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, and repair of Council's Fleet Assets, including Earthmoving and Civil Construction Plant, Trucks and Trailers, Light vehicles, and Small Plant.
You will have the opportunity to work with a modern fleet, on a variety of asset types, makes and models – no day will be the same.

  • This is permanent full-time positions based at Charlton, Pittsworth, and Crows Nest.
  • The base starting salary for this position is $1284.31 gross per week, plus allowances, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and 12.65% superannuation.

About the Fleet & Logistics Maintenance Team:
The Fleet Workshop is a modern workshop facility that services and maintains Council assets ranging from small plant through to large earthmoving machinery.
The Fleet Maintenance team ensure that our internal customers and external stakeholders receive excellent customer service to ensure Council assets maintain their operational requirements with limited interruption to the service they provide.
The Fleet Maintenance Management section oversees the servicing and repair of all fleet assets in workshops located at Principal Depot, Greenmount, Pittsworth, Millmerran, Goombungee and Crows Nest as well as mobile service and repair units working from these workshops. Maintenance Management also coordinate and deliver metal fabrication services across the region.
How to be successful in this position:
Qualification(s), training and/or experience, specific to the role:
Mandatory
  • Trade Certificate as a Motor Mechanic/Diesel Fitter from a recognised Tertiary Institution.
  • WHS Competency (White Card) for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, or equivalent, or a willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Current ‘C’ Class Manual Driver’s Licence.
  • Experience as a Mechanic/Diesel Fitter working with a range of plant and equipment.
Desirable
  • Current ‘HR’ Heavy Rigid Driver’s Licence.
  • Current Refrigerant Handling Licence (automotive).
  • Current Queensland Transport Examiner Licence.
  • Current ‘LF’ – Forklift High Risk Work Licence.
