The primary purpose of the Fixed Term (6 months) position of the Media and Communications Advisor is to engage media on all FRV matters, manage media at relevant operational incidents, and to support the external component of the Communications Strategy. This role requires capacity and capability to work on a shift basis and on a rotating on-call roster.

About the Role
The incumbent will support the External Communications Manager in delivery of all components of communications strategy including working with Media and social media on community engagement stories. Support inter-agency resourcing eg. State Control Centre resourcing per agreed arrangements with EMV. Additional responsibilities will include, the preparation of media releases, publicity packages / media kits to support FRV branded events, partnerships and sponsorships, collaborating closely with M&C and others to ensure the enhancement of the FRV brand.
What you will need to Succeed
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Tertiary qualification in Communications or related field.
- Substantial experience in media relations role and in producing high quality media collateral ie media releases, briefings;
- Proven relationships with key Media and knowledge of Media and social media processes and procedures.
- Demonstrated track record in engaging media on organisational issues and achieving desired outcomes.
- Experience working as a team member on long-term major community-based programs including development of key partner relationships desirable.
- Current driver’s licence required.

FRV’s standard practice is to appoint at the base of the salary range, however consideration will be given to an above base salary within the advertised range based on the successful candidate’s skills and experience.
