An exciting opportunity has become available to join Macquarie Group as a Media and External Communications Associate, working within the Group’s Corporate Affairs division. You will work as part of a close team of communications professionals on diverse and interesting initiatives, supporting external communications for Macquarie Group. You’ll play an important role in ensuring key stakeholders are updated on media and social media coverage of Macquarie, conducting media analysis and research to support business strategy, and managing reputation risks for external materials and messages.
Working collaboratively with the team, this role specifically entails:
- Responsibility for media monitoring, including social media monitoring, and keeping colleagues and staff throughout Macquarie updated on relevant coverage
- Distributing daily media coverage reports to staff
- Organising media outreach and media briefings for conferences, events, and financial result announcements throughout the year
- Supporting the team with preparing key messages and communications plans for announcements
- Managing requests from journalists for Macquarie’s market commentary and research
- Reviewing external materials and external speaking requests to ensure reputational risks are mitigated and quality control is upheld
- Arranging media training for staff in Australia
- Conducting media research, summaries, briefing notes, and media coverage analysis reports
- Fielding calls and emails from media and directing them as appropriate
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Recently graduated with a university degree in communications, marketing or another associated field, or have up to two years of experience in a similar role
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail
- A collaborative work style as part of a busy team, with the ability to also work autonomously
- Enthusiasm, a strong appetite to learn, and a good sense of judgement
