About the role
The Media Manager will be responsible for the management of SNAICC’s media communication portfolio which is instrumental to the overarching communication strategy.
The incumbent will have responsibility for media management including content curation and responsibility to boost SNAICC's voice in the national media with a focus on enhancing and protecting SNAICC’s reputation. In addition, the Media Manager will be required to cultivate and maintain relationships with key media contacts across various channels, including but not limited to print and broadcast media and social media.
We are looking for someone who:
- Broad knowledge and understanding of human rights and issues impacting upon Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families and commitment to the rights, needs and aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.
- Experience working in communications, public relations, journalism or a related discipline at a senior level, including highly developed knowledge of national media.
- Experience working within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community is desirable.
- Demonstrated experience operating in the national Australian media market.
- Well-developed skills in driving media relationships with senior journalists
- Demonstrated strong working knowledge of utilising different channels, such as traditional media and social media.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder relationships with diplomacy, sensitivity, confidentiality and tact as required.
