About the role
An opportunity has become available for a Scientific Officer at our Adelaide Airport. This is a fixed term full time contract (parental leave coverage).
Your role will be to participate in the day to day operation of the laboratory, working as part of a dedicated team. The duties of the role will include rotating throughout Microbiology, Environmental water testing, Serology, Immunology, Mycology, Mycobacterium, Molecular specimens set up and reporting. Participation in evening and weekend shifts will be required. Maintenance of instrumentation, equipment and compliance with accreditation and quality assurance requirements. The preferred applicants will be flexible, punctual, self-motivated, display initiative and be able to work with minimal supervision.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Laboratory Science or an AIMS accredited equivalent as a minimum.
- Highly desirable to have relevant experience in a diagnostic medical microbiology laboratory performing specimen set up, reading and interpreting microscopy and microbiological cultures and isolate identification and antimicrobial susceptibly testing
- Highly desirable to have relevant experience working in an Immunology/Serology Laboratory including ELISA, EIA and hepatitis testing will be beneficial for this role.
- Experience with use of various microbiology/serology laboratory automation systems will be highly considered
- High attention to detail and experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multitask and successfully work as part of a team.
- Exceptional communication, time management & organisational skills.
- The ability to contribute towards the delivery of customer focused services.
- Have own transport and be able to take part in weekend and evening rosters including public holidays.
