Medical Receptionist

The Centre for Digestive Diseases (CDD) is a private day procedure hospital and medical practice located in the Inner West of Sydney. The Centre takes great pride in its highly regarded specialist clinical staff, cutting edge technology and novel treatments. It has distinguished itself locally and internationally as a unique medical institution offering novel approaches in researching, diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal conditions.
An opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and experienced medical receptionist to join our administration team. To succeed in the role, you will be well presented and demonstrate excellent communication skills when dealing with patients in person and over the telephone. In addition, your strong customer service experience and attention to detail will be highly regarded.
The role is for a full time position (Monday – Friday), minimum 38 hours and some overtime when required. The Centre operates Monday through to Friday 6:30am to 6pm. You must be available to work around a roster based on the opening and closing times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answering phone inquiries and booking patient appointments
- Greeting and welcoming patients and visitors and directing them to the appropriate department
- Managing and resolving patient inquiries
- Patient bookings, preparation of all admission / discharge paperwork
- Provision of concise and relevant information to patients
- Administrative tasks related to patient care
- Processing patient payments and claims via credit card, Medicare and Private Health Funds
- Completion of end-of-day reconciliations (Eftpos, credit card and cash) and tracking of practice invoices and receipts
- General administrative duties including filing, faxing and email management
- Liaising with other health care providers, government providers, insurance companies and health funds as required
- Patient data entry using medical software
- Telephone duties including receiving and directing calls.
Essential Criteria
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the following attributes:
- Previous medical practice experience
- Be able to provide excellent customer service to patients and health professionals through all communications channels including phone, email, paper and face-to-face
- Good written, verbal and phone communication skills in a professional and polite manner.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Excellent computer literacy
- Good knowledge of Medicare & Health Funds, medical terminology and medical practice software
- Reasonable typing speed with a high degree of accuracy and grammar
- Strong ability to multi-task, time manage, ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Honest, responsible, respecting the confidentiality and privacy of patient information and records
- Great interpersonal skills with patients and team members
- Professional presentation and attitude; Proactive approach and good work ethics
- Team player and Flexibility with hours.
