Qualifications & experience
- A background in a medical secretary or receptionist role possessing experience in a specialised setting, is considered highly advantageous
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional organisational abilities and attention to detail
- Proficiency in computer systems and basic office software
- Ability to effectively multi-task in a busy environment
- Knowledge of medical terminology is an advantage
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Ability to take initiative and work independently and as part of a team
Tasks & responsibilities
- As a Medical Receptionist, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our practice. Your responsibilities will include:
- Front Desk Operations: Greet and assist patients, answer phone calls, provide information on services and process billing and receipting protocols as per Medicare and Health Fund guidelines and legislation
- Appointment Coordination: Schedule patient appointments, confirm upcoming visits, and manage the reception area flow
- Administrative Support: Assist with administrative tasks, including data entry, correspondence, and maintaining accurate patient records
- Clinic Coordination: Setup and run our busy outpatients clinics, and efficiently handle check-in and check-out processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Theatre & Inpatient Lists: Assistance with managing theatre lists liaising with Anaesthetists and Hospital Theatres ensuring lists are sent on time with accurate information
- Provide exceptional customer service as a liaison between patients and medical personnel
