The service is provided to meet the needs of a university teaching hospital, and also operates in the community through a number of outreach facilities. It also supports the Mercy Hospital for Women, four health services in the Hume region, seven health services in Loddon Mallee region and two services in the Goulburn Valley.
About the role:As a
Medical Scientist, you will provide a wide range of relevant expertise in the day-to-day performance of a range of pathology tests and associated functions, including customer service, quality management and adherence to the relevant NPAAC guidelines.A regular day will see you:
- Perform a wide range of Haematology and Biochemistry tests by automated and manual methods according to documented procedures
- Performance of Blood Bank tests include group and antibody investigations and the preparation of blood and blood products as required
- Reporting of blood film morphology including paediatric patients
- Microbiology, gram stain and cell counts
About you:You will be someone who enjoys working with others as a team, with excellent communication skills. You’ll also have an interest in self-development and education, and actively seek out opportunities to grow your skillset.You’ll also have:
- A Bachelor of Applied Science (MLS) or equivalent
- The ability to perform laboratory techniques with a high degree of competence
- Flexibility to work varied shifts and on-call as required, including weekdays, weekends and public holidays
- An ability to work collaboratively with your team, and build good working relationships across all levels of the organisation
