About the Smart Energy Council

The Smart Energy Council (SEC) is the peak body for the renewable energy industry. The SEC is a not-for-profit member-based organisation with the mission to work with and for our members and advocate with the government at all levels to promote the adoption and use of renewable energy technologies.

About the Role

The SEC is growing rapidly and, as such, a need has arisen  to recruit a member Relationship Manager to nurture our current and rapidly growing membership base. The Membership Relationship Manager will identify key accounts at SEC, and service them to the highest level.  They will also create programs to service all members based on their membership tier. 

Duties and responsibilities

• Create and nurture relationships with all members of the Smart Energy Council
• Support our senior members with personalised and tailored service as required
• Create member value to encourage members to increase their commitment to SEC throughout the year.
• Ensure membership inclusions are communicated and delivered on to our members. 
• Assist members to create opportunities forsuccess with the SEC and assist them in achieving that.
• Encourage member involvement with the SEC
• Explore new opportunities with current members, this may include ideating new product ideas.
• Visit members as required throughout the year. 
• Onboard new members to the SEC
• Report on membership renewal rates, identify challenges with the goal of maximising membership renewals.
• Actively engage with potential customers and partners to maximise business opportunities.
• Actively promote the brand and unique value proposition among industry, and community by attending and presenting at industry events, including trade fairs and conferences.
• Provide sales forecasts and achieve on-target results.
• Develop long-term relationships with members through managing and interpreting their requirements.
• Monitor industry trends and conduct competitor and industry market research and analysis.
• Develop plans and strategies to develop membership and achieve the SEC’s goals.
• Complete administrative tasks for membership management as required. 

Skills and experience

• Sound knowledge of the renewables industry is highly regarded.
• Previous successful account management experience (2+ years).
• Be self-motivated, have a genuine hunger for sales and achieving sales targets.
• A proven record of growing a portfolio of new clients, with success in closing new businesses or in growing existing business.
• Excellent Sales Management, Business Development and relationship building skills.
• Previous experiences in renewable energy or membership services highly regarded.
• Business acumen and able to learn and understand technical and product aspects of an agile industry body. 
• Applicant must have full work rights in Australia – Permanent residency or Australian Citizenship only.
• Applicants based in Canberra will be preferred, however, strong applicants based elsewhere will may be considered.
