Moonee Valley Racing Club (MVRC) is the historic home of Australia's most prestigious horse race, the Ladbrokes Cox Plate and also plays host to the best night racing in Australasia with Ladbrokes Friday Night Lights. The Valley is considered Melbourne's most appealing spectator racecourse, offering an exciting, up-close and personal entertainment experience like no other.
In addition to racing, the Club also operates a progressive hospitality portfolio including non-raceday events business, three multi-purpose entertainment venues, a restaurant and continues to push into new premium off-course markets through it's Dean & McPherson creative catering business. Dean & McPherson delivered the world renowned Presidents' Cup and is the hospitality partner of Melbourne Royal and the Melbourne Showgrounds. MVRC is currently in the process of a defining $2bn+ transformation project that involves developing lifestyle, recreation and leisure spaces to create an industry-leading connected precinct that will redefine the horse racing industry. Designed to make MVRC one of Melbourne's most prized sports and events destinations, the project will generate new business and tourism opportunities while elevating MVRC into the new realm for generations to come.
About The Role
Members are the lifeblood of the Moonee Valley Racing Club (MVRC). We pride ourselves in being a leader within the racing industry and have built a reputation of putting our members first in everything we do. Our Club strives to ensure our members receive the best possible oncourse experience and benefits and are committed to building member loyalty and patronage. The Club also strives to offer the best racing experience in the country to everyone that makes their way to The Valley including our sponsors, industry participants and stakeholders, corporate function guests, community groups, racing fans and other patrons.
The Membership Sales Coordinators are required to maximise revenue generated from membership, on course dining, enclosure packages and programmed events. The role involves engaging with potential members, understanding their needs and interests, and promoting our product to persuade them to purchase. The role also has a responsibility to provide a high-level customer experience for Club members, patrons, partners and the general enquirers.

Broadly, the role involves:
- Actively participate in the sales function for all products including membership, thoroughbred race meetings dining, and hospitality packages and club programmed events. This will be achieved through inbound sales conversion and outbound sales calls
- Ensure that dining packages are sold and tracked as per the sales plan and are accurately allocated to tables/seats.
- Identify opportunities to up-sell and cross-sell to other MVRC products to meet customer needs and grow revenue opportunities across the business.
- To work collaboratively within the Membership and Customer Experience team to consistently deliver a high-level customer experience to all Club customers and potential customers. These customer groups include: members, partners, visitors, patrons and general enquires.
Skills & Experience Required
To effectively perform in the role the successful candidate must have the following skills, experience, qualifications:
- Experience in working both independently, and in a team environment ideally within a sales based, customer service and/or membership role.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills with strong problem-solving skills and a 'can do' attitude.
- Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
- Commitment to accuracy and attention to detail in transaction processing and record documentation.
- Strong commitment to organisational goals and customer service and a demonstrated capacity to project a positive image of the MVRC through appropriate behaviour and attire.
- Ability to co-operate with others, set priorities and work to timelines.
- Competent in the skilled use of computerised operating systems including a. Experience in using a CRM and Microsoft Office suite.
- Compliant with the Australian Privacy Principals and Regulations.
The successful applicant must be flexible to hours of work, as they will be required to work during the week as well as at Friday night and Saturday race meetings. Knowledge of the horse racing industry or club environment is preferred for this role, but not essential.
