As part of the Burdekin Community Mental Health Services multidisciplinary team, this role provides clinical assessment and treatment services to people presenting with complex and severe Mental Health problems including alcohol and or drug problems.
The opportunity provides exposure to case management and intake assessment of consumers across the lifespan, as well as delivery of a consultation service into the emergency departments and hospitals of the area.
What we are looking for:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, consult, liaise and negotiate with a wide range of individuals including, the Mental Health treating team and other government departments engaged in the service delivery of Mental Health consumers who are or have been in contact with the criminal justice system and / or high risk.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills to contribute to formal research and service development and develop the knowledge base of the service through clinical practice, supervision and education and training.
  • Demonstrated competence in working both autonomously and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, provision, assessment and treatment of people with Mental Health problems along with those persons who are subject to the forensic provisions of the Mental Health Act 2016.
Generous remuneration package value up to $132,730 p.a. comprising:
  • Salary range of $76,747 to $116,332 p.a. (HP3)
  • Annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements
  • For Occupational Therapy the successful applicant must hold a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification from an accredited tertiary institution in Occupational Therapy. Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia is required.
  • For Psychology the successful applicant must possess a four year degree in Psychology (Honours, Graduate Diploma) from an accredited tertiary institution. Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia is required. Possession of a Masters or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from an accredited tertiary institution, or significant progress towards this, would be highly regarded.
  • For Social Workers:
  • The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification from an accredited tertiary institution in Social Work as well as eligibility for full membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • While not mandatory, status as an AASW accredited Mental Health Social Worker is highly regarded.
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropiate supervisor/manager prior to commencement of clinical duties.
  • Possession of relevant post-graduation qualifications in Mental Health would be well regarded for a position at this level.
  • Appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) under the Mental Health Act 2016 would be highly desirable. If not AMHP – then willingness to undertake and complete the requirements for appointment.
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a class “C” motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required.
