Position Overview
The Homelessness Support Worker aims to empower Tasmanians at-risk of or experiencing homelessness to improve their Mental Health and enhance their wellbeing.
This is achieved by promoting positive Mental Health through decision making, referral to appropriate services and working with those accessing homelessness services to achieve structured recovery goals. The Homelessness Support Worker will promote self-reliance, choice and control and strive to enhance consumer wellbeing through the provision of Mental Health supports.
Supported by the State-wide Community Programs Manager, the MHHOP Worker will deliver specific programs and activities to support consumers to achieve their recovery goals and work towards self-reliance and improved Mental Health.
Selection Criteria
Essential
- Certificate IV Mental Health, equivalent or working towards
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems in a timely and efficient manner
- Ability to contribute to ongoing improvement and expansion of knowledge and skill set
- Ability to deliver (or demonstrated ability to gain skills related to) Mental Health care facilitation role for people accessing homelessness services.
Desirable
- Previous work experience in Mental Health, drug and alcohol, homelessness or other related human services field.
- Tertiary qualification in a related field.
Richmond Fellowship Tasmania offers access to salary packaging, a collaborative and supportive working environment, and support for ongoing training and development. This position will be paid at level 4 under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010. RFT requires a current National Police Certificate for all employees.
