Harmony Social Services is a Service Provider, specialising in providing support to participants with psychosocial disabilities. We are currently seeking an experienced Support Worker to assist our client based in Coolangatta. There is also potential for other support work throughout the Gold Coast, for the right person. The Role
As Support Worker, your day-to-day responsibilities will include both emotional and community access support for the client.
This client particularly enjoys surfing and going to the beach. The successful candidate would preferably share these interests, and have a passion for spending time in the outdoors, in order to build a successful and supportive working relationship with the client. Experience working with addiction and depression is highly desirable.
Support worker requirements
The successful candidate must be enthusiastic about supporting people with disabilities to live GREAT lives. The lives they want and choose, and must meet the following criteria:
Have a strong knowledge of NDIS guidelines, Community Services and Health Sectors.
Have an understanding of the issues faced by people experiencing Mental Health illnesses and other psychosocial disabilities.
Possess a strong understanding of supporting clients with high Mental Health Behaviour within residential environments and out in the community.
Be experienced in managing clients with challenging behaviours.
Have skills/experience in working with diversity and an excellent working knowledge in Mental Health services.
Have the ability to support others with personal care and domestic duties in a respectful way (and be happy for this to be part of your job).
Have the capacity to meet the physical requirements of the job that may include manual handling tasks.
Flexibility in availability.
And must possess:
A Current Driver’s License and willingness to use own vehicle (if required) with comprehensive insurance and roadworthy certificate.
A Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain prior to commencing.
A NDIS Support Worker Orientation Module Certificate, or willingness to complete prior to commencing.
Successful candidates will be required to clear all state-based probity checks; including but not limited to the NDIS Worker Screening Check and/or a National Criminal History Record Check.

Casual position - Payrate: $37.30 per hour - plus superannuation
