Mental Health Wellbeing Coach.
Our organisation, Momentum Mental Health, is seeking applications for a Mental Health Wellbeing Coach to join our team.
Momentum Mental Health is a contemporary Mental Health service whose mission is to challenge and influence the Mental Health system to show that there is a better way.
Our highly skilled Mental Health Wellbeing Coaches and support team deliver psychosocial support to people 16 years and older. Our services are available in the Toowoomba Region, Southern Downs and Western Downs and include evidenced based Group and 1:1 Coaching sessions face-to-face, over the phone and online. The services offered are non-clinical and designed to support people who want to work on their Mental Health and wellbeing.
We exist to provide high-quality services that inspire and enable self-led journeys of discovery and recovery, improving the Mental Health and quality of life of people everywhere.

The kind of people we are looking for:
- Mental Health Wellbeing Coaches will have as a minimum a Bachelor's degree (or are working to complete); eg: Bachelor of Psychology/ Social Services/Mental Health, Community Services, or qualifications in a related sector (eg Community Services) and some lived and/or learned experience in working with people on their mental wellbeing. They will be comfortable in facilitating Groups, have the desire to build skills in 1:1 Coaching and in time, support a caseload of members.
- Can demonstrate high performance and member/client-centric approach to service delivery (both in Groups and 1:1).
- Can demonstrate their understanding of the role of Coaching in recovery and application of these skills in a 1:1 or group setting.
- Work empathically with a caseload of individuals on unique Mental Health recovery journeys.
- Can confidently facilitate and present wellbeing workshops to groups in a business and community setting.
- Availability to travel regionally, with some overnight stays required.
- Reliability, punctuality and attention to personal presentation along with a positive, can-do attitude and an ability to role model these traits to inspire members.
You will be supported in this role by our Team Leader, Senior Wellbeing Coaches, Wellbeing Coaches, and Services Coordinator.
The job:
The role is offered as full-time (38 hrs/week) or part-time (minimum 22.5 hrs/week) with some flexibility offered in the spread of hours across the weekdays. On-the-job training is provided for suitable applicants and there is potential for the role to be extended in line with funding.
In this role you will:
- Deliver Group Coaching programs and in time deliver 1:1 Coaching sessions to a consistent, high standard.
- Work with members face to face and online to maintain connection and actively encourage them as they work on their recovery goals.
- Work as part of a team – bringing energy to every day, supporting each other, being engaged and empowered to seek information and support when required.
- Maintain positive relationships and referral pathways with key providers in the region.
- Uphold our Values and Behaviours and actively contribute to a positive, energetic workplace culture.
Other skills we expect you to have include:
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including an ability to relate empathically and communicate effectively with people from all walks of life (including culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds), and the ability to appropriately represent Momentum Mental Health and its services in engagement with employers, other service providers, and the broader community.
- Understanding (or the ability to rapidly acquire) regarding policy, regulatory (eg. NDIS), and legal (eg. privacy and confidentiality legislation, delegation authority) factors and their implications for service delivery and organisational management in the community services sector.
You will also need:
- QLD C Class Open Driver’s Licence (mandatory).
- Criminal History Screening and Disability Services (Yellow Card) or ability to obtain (mandatory).
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or ability to obtain (mandatory).
- NDIS Worker Screening must be supplied before the commencement of work.
- Momentum Mental Health complies with CHO Public Health Directions in relation to COVID-19.
Remuneration:
Remuneration will be in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry [SCHADS] Award 2010 - Level 3 ($36.00-$38.60/hr) / Level 4 ($41.52-$44.68/hr) - dependent upon qualifications and experience. This role also attracts superannuation, and you have the ability to receive up to $15,900/pa fringe benefits tax-free.
We work a 38-hour week (full-time) and value life/work balance. Any additional hours, if required, are taken as part of our flexible arrangements.
Momentum Mental Health is participating in a 9 Day fortnight trial for its staff. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to opt into the 9 Day Fortnight work model upon the successful completion of the probation period.
