Position summary:
The Metung Country Club (MCC) Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the club operations including member relations, events management and the restaurant, ensuring the club runs smoothly while maintaining exceptional standards of service for members and guests. Building strong relationships with members and the community and fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment, the MCC Manager will be hands on with a focus on continuing to grow the Country Club as a reputable public access facility in the region.
Key accountabilities:
Country Club Operational Management
- Manage the day to day operations of the Country Club including the Golf Course, Golf Shop and Restaurant and Bar
- Together with the GM, develop and implement the strategic plan and business plan for the course and the clubhouse
- Lead the Food & Beverage operations across the business including the Hot Springs Café and Accommodation Food offering.
- Lead programs, competitions and events to drive member engagement
- Oversee stock and inventory management including ordering ,merchandising and stock takes
- Lead the management and administration of golf memberships
- Oversee score card entry and handicap management
- Coordinate green fee & driving range ensuring a high level of service for patrons
- Liaise with MCC golf committees to administer and enforce all Club rules, regulations and policies
- Partner with food services team to create seasonal, local menus for MCC and MEHS (including event & catering menus) to ensure commercial and sustainable viability of food and beverage offerings
Golf Course Maintenance
- Working closely with the Golf Superintendent, ensure the facility is always in a useable and safe state, where this is not possible, suitable maintenance is arranged, and any disruption communicated to the GM, members and customers
- Responsible for all phases of Golf Maintenance and Agronomic operations, cost control, and personnel
- Work with General Manager and Golf Superintendent on course projects, maintenance works and modifications
- Oversee golf cart preventative maintenance and asset management
Guest Experience Leadership
- Lead and inspire the team to deliver service excellence aligned to MeHS purpose and values
- Implement operational procedures and resourcing to ensure service efficiencies and to enhance the guest experience
- Regular communication with members and local stakeholders, building community relationships to drive community engagement
- Ensure all guest areas are presented as per company standards
- Attend to and resolve complaints; investigating and taking strategic measures to reduce complaints
- Monitor and integrate guest feedback for product, service and experience improvement.
People & Culture Engagement
- Lead and develop the team to achieve operational and guest experience objectives
- Develop a guest focused team culture aligned to PHS Group vision and values
- Recruit and onboard team members ensuring appropriate resourcing levels
- Implement effective departmental and interdepartmental communication practices including regular team meetings
- Manage rostering of team via Employment Hero including timesheets and leave requests
Financial Management
- Manage the MCC budget, managing wages, overhead costs and driving revenue
- Manage invoicing, stock management, daily closing procedures and End of Month in line with PHS Group Finance requirements
- Assist with annual budget and forecasting
- Evaluate and act upon variations to food and beverage costs against budget
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all necessary regulatory requirements and legislation, including food handling guidelines and Liquor Licensing guidelines
- Ensure all key risks are managed and mitigated
- Ensure full compliance of OHS regulations, all company policies and procedures, and any company directives, in relation to workplace health and safety, ensuring a safe working environment that is free of risks to health, so far as is reasonably practicable including;
- Taking reasonable care for your own health and safety, and that of others in the workplace.
- Safe systems of work and safe operating and maintenance of equipment
- Providing employees, contractors and visitors the necessary information, instruction, training or supervision to enable them to do their work in a way that is safe and without risks to health
Essential skills & experience:
- Previous management experience in the hospitality, recreation or leisure industries
- Previous experience working within a golf environment is advantageous
- Qualification in business or administration discipline is advantageous
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead, motivate and develop a team
- Strong commercial acumen and financial ability
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build strong community relationships
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft suite, POS, finance etc)
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Sound organisational, analytical and administrative skills.
