SalaryA new role has become available for an experienced mid-weight Packaging Designer within a family opened manufacturing business who pride themselves on facilitating a fabulous culture, rewarding their team and being all round awesome! This is a hybrid role which means you will be required to work on-site 2-3 days per week and need to be based in Melbourne.
About You
You will have a proven track record in packaging design with a portfolio that reflects this. A background in manufacturing packaging design is favourable but not mandatory. Your responsibilities will include:
- Proficiently use AutoCAD and our specialized Impact program to create fifth ghost-style boxes with structural analysis capabilities.
- Adapt standard forms within Impact to design unique inserts and make necessary modifications according to client requirements.
- Demonstrate a solution-focused mindset to understand client needs and develop effective structural designs that meet both functional and aesthetic objectives.
- Work closely with clients to interpret their design preferences and requirements, providing expert guidance on structural and graphic aspects of the packaging.
- Deviate from standard functions of heights, width, and depth to create distinctive packaging solutions. Whether it's a hexagon, wide box, or unique brown packaging, the ability to think outside traditional design parameters is essential.
- Be adaptable to evolving client demands and industry trends, staying informed about the latest developments in AutoCAD-based design solutions.
- Inject a lively and positive spirit into a small team of 12 whilst demonstrating self-motivation. Your prior experience means you can independently tackle tasks with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Impact program. This is a must have skill set for this role.
- Strong understanding of packaging principles and structural analysis.
- Creative and innovative mindset with the ability to customize designs.
- Solution-focused approach to address client needs.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with clients and internal teams.
