Strategically located on the Liverpool Plains of NSW, one hour west of Tamworth, JBS Australia’s Caroona Feedlot employs approximately 45 people and includes a dryland and irrigation farming operation. With a licensed capacity of 28,000 head, access to an extensive network of quality cattle and ideally placed between the Riverina & Beef City plants, Caroona is a vital asset in the supply of grain fed cattle for both the JBS Queensland and New South Wales based processing facilities. The feedlot boasts a modern steam flaking mill, grain storage and ration manufacturing infrastructure.
About the Role
The JBS Feedlot team are currently recruiting a motivated leader to join the Caroona Feedlot team as a Mill Supervisor. This position offers the opportunity for applicants to further develop their Feedlot career working with industry leaders, consultants and cutting-edge infrastructure. This integral leadership role requires a high level of commitment with the ability to lead and motivate a committed team of employees.
Your day-to-day duties will include:
- Managing a large, cross-functional team, ensuring they are high performing, motivated and working safely as a cohesive team.
- Operational supervision of all mill area activities to achieve targets in relation to costs and efficiencies in commodity receival, storage, processing, ration batching and delivery
- Inventory management, as required, including auditing and stocktaking
- Staff development and training in a positive, proactive manner
- Participating as a key member of the senior management team
- Leading and developing strong working relationships with a diverse range of people
- Maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and service providers
- Monitoring and ensuring team compliance with OHS, HR, QA, Animal Welfare & Environmental obligations
- Taking full accountability for work output including quality control and productivity
About You
- Proven track record in having a professional approach to managing people, building motivated, high performing teams and a collaborative workplace
- Previous leadership/supervisory experience within a mill, feedlot or faming environment
- A forward-thinking approach, to ensure the business is equipped and ready for future growth
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate computer literacy skills
- Demonstrated problem solving techniques
- High attention to detail
- High level of self-motivation and commitment to improve
- Effective organizational skills
