About The Role

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Mine Planning Superintendent position is accountable for leading activities for the Medium-term planning horizon.  This strategic planning role will involve coordinating budget preparations, developing the STP 12-month forecast, providing engineering support across the Technical Services, and leading business improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Do

To be successful in this role, key duties will include:

• Coordinate and prepare the 5-year budget mine plan & the STP 12-month forecasts
• Oversee the execution of the Rehabilitation Plan
• Identify and lead key site business improvement initiatives
• Lead the Implementation of the WHC Technical Services framework
• Coordinate studies for site infrastructure projects
• Standardise and oversee Mine Planning team activities
• Coach, develop and mentor mining engineers

What You’ll Bring  

• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or another related discipline
• Extensive experience in open-cut mine engineering
• Experience leading multi-disciplined technical teams & highly developed interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical ability and critical thinking skills for problem-solving and developing effective solutions
• Competency with the major recognised mining software packages (SPRY, Vulcan, Deswik & HaulSim)
• Ability and willingness to adhere to Whitehaven Coal's STRIVE Values, “Safety, Teamwork, Respect, Integrity, Value, Excellence.”
