About The Role
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Mine Planning Superintendent position is accountable for leading activities for the Medium-term planning horizon. This strategic planning role will involve coordinating budget preparations, developing the STP 12-month forecast, providing engineering support across the Technical Services, and leading business improvement initiatives.
What You’ll Do
To be successful in this role, key duties will include:
- Coordinate and prepare the 5-year budget mine plan & the STP 12-month forecasts
- Oversee the execution of the Rehabilitation Plan
- Identify and lead key site business improvement initiatives
- Lead the Implementation of the WHC Technical Services framework
- Coordinate studies for site infrastructure projects
- Standardise and oversee Mine Planning team activities
- Coach, develop and mentor mining engineers
What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or another related discipline
- Extensive experience in open-cut mine engineering
- Experience leading multi-disciplined technical teams & highly developed interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical ability and critical thinking skills for problem-solving and developing effective solutions
- Competency with the major recognised mining software packages (SPRY, Vulcan, Deswik & HaulSim)
- Ability and willingness to adhere to Whitehaven Coal's STRIVE Values, “Safety, Teamwork, Respect, Integrity, Value, Excellence.”
