About Kanmantoo Copper Mine
Hillgrove Resources is one of Australia's best kept mining secrets. Hidden amongst the quaint country towns of the vibrant Adelaide Hills yet is only a short 40 minute drive to Adelaide and a 20 minute drive to one of SA's fastest growing areas, Mount Barker. Previously operating as an open-cut mine, Hillgrove Resources have now embarked on an exciting new chapter - we've gone underground!
The Benefits
- Experience success, firsthand! Your efforts will have a material impact on the success of the company; you won’t be a small cog in a big wheel.
- Recapture your time! Working at Kanmantoo offers an awesome opportunity to choose lifestyle and balance, by switching FIFO, for residential.
- Work close to home. We have a local hire policy and aim to support our local communities.
The Role
Reporting to the Principal Mining Engineer, you will be based on-site at the Kanmantoo Copper Mine on a 8 days on, 6 days off roster, working with a dedicated, highly skilled technical services team - all striving towards the same goal! Your days will be filled with challenges and achievement; while a Production Engineer role will largely be the same across many mine sites – the experience and diversity you will find at Kanmantoo will catapult your career forward leaps and bounds. You’ll be exposed to and involved in the whole planning cycle, not just one component of it.
The majority of your time will be dedicated to short term planning; creating executable stope drill and charge plan designs in alignment with the 13-week schedule, along with preparation of the short-term weekly schedule to ensure alignment with budget targets. QA/QC of drill and blast practices underground will ensure a safe and productive operation, with your commitment towards health and safety being second to none. In addition, you will assist in mine development design and issue development plans/memos, but will also have the opportunity to immerse yourself in projects and initiatives.
Fundamentals
Prior experience in underground mining with sub-level open stoping exposure is a huge advantage, yet experience in stope drill and blast design is essential to succeed in this role. You’ll navigate your way around CAD, UGDB and Deswik with ease, while your exceptional communication skills, ability to work independently and finely tuned time management skills will see you soar.
Although mine planning/scheduling experience is highly desirable, it’s not a deal breaker – this will be an excellent opportunity to develop your existing mine engineering skills.
There’s no doubt – this will be a fast-paced role, yet working with an overall dynamic team, in which you can immerse yourself and be part of an iconic Australian mining story.
