This role is responsible for surveying of the mine site, with the accurate measurement and recording of mine site workings and spatial data. Includes surveying, design, and the planning and safety of surface and underground mining activities, and the accurate record keeping and representation on all mine plans.
The Main Responsibilities Would Include:
- Maintenance of all mine spatial data.
- Develop and maintain survey systems and procedures.
- Direction and grade control.
- Monitor for other excavations and services.
- Check and approve development designs.
- Enter data on DESWIK (computer database).
- Ensure all mine plans are kept up to date in accordance with statutory requirements.
- Ensure the information required by operations to conform with mine designs is provided in a timely and accurate manner.
- Provide surveying service and accurate information to other internal customers as required.
- Carry out initial surveys and assessments on potential sites.
- Assess whether plans are workable based on all the required criteria.
- Produce site maps, including mine structures and deposit layers, using geographic information systems (GIS).
- Carry out risk assessments related to rock structures and potential ground movements.
- Assess the potential environmental effects and impacts of mining.
- Update maps during a mine's ongoing development.
- Use of underground drone for void measurements.
About You – Skills and Experience
Our ideal candidate is someone who can bring the following to the role:
- Tertiary qualification in Surveying.
- A minimum of 4 years in a similar role.
- Underground surveying experience.
- High level of Computer skills.
- DESWIK Experience (preferred).
- Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s licence.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong understanding and belief in safety principles, standards, and legislation.
- Supervisory skills.
- Strong planning and organising experience.
- Delegation/prioritising.
- Strong analysis and problem solving.
- Ability to work autonomously and with the team.
