We are currently recruiting for an ‘Mine Technician – Pit’ who will report directly into the Supervisor Mine Geology. We are offering this role on a 7:7 roster where you can drive in and out of site!
The Mine Technician is responsible for carrying out technical functions efficiently and safety for all or some of the Geology requirements. The Mine Technician will be involved in ore control tasks, core preparation and sample processing.
The role:
- Sampling of blast-hole piles using an auger and battery powered drill
- Use of in house collector application to locate blast-holes to sample in pit and record sample bag numbers for each hole.
- Data entry of sample data collected when required
- Assist geologists in a blast-hole sampling trials to continually improve safety and sample quality.
- Assist geologists in developing site QAQC standards through collection of coarse rejects from storage.
- Assist geologists in RC drilling programs by looking after pad prep, escorting, safety inspections, sample bag preparation, sample despatch and other drilling logics.
- Workplace inspections
- Forklift operation
- Supervision of contractors / operations personnel performing drill site construction
- Drill site maintenance, including drainage, fencing and sump maintenance
- Stock take and assist in ordering consumables for use in the core shed and field
About you:
- Current “C” Class Western Australian drivers licence. Manual license desirable.
- St Johns Senior First Aid certificate desirable
- Forklift ticket required
- Truck licence an advantage
- Exposure to computers at some level
- Ability to work in a team with peers in achieving team results
- Good verbal and written communication skills including use of 2-Way radios
- Ability to work unsupervised and achieve agreed targets
- Physically fit (including repetitive manual lifting of up to 15kg)
- Able to work in all weather conditions
- Strong focus on customer services
- Strong commitment to willingness to adapt to evolving roles and learn new skills
