About this part of our organisation:
Our Zinc Assets in Australia include multiple & geographically dispersed operations, including underground and open pit mines, processing plants and port facilities. Additionally, we have operations across Asia, both North and South American continents and Europe. Mount Isa is home to the majority of our assets in Australia and this role is based residentially in Mount Isa or on a FIFO roster from either Brisbane, Townsville or Cairns.
Our George Fisher Mine is a world class tier one asset with an extensive life still open at depth. As a large, deep and high volume mine you will have plenty of opportunity to consider a variety of scenarios and bring your critical thinking, experience and innovative nature to the operation.
About your potential new position:
As a Mid Term Planning Engineer, you will convert the conceptual Long-Term plan into an effective, safe, and executable plan operational plan. The mid-term plan is delivered to the Short-Term Planning Team for execution.
Some of your responsibilities shall include:
- Following the Long-Term strategic mine plan to deliver operational and executable mine plans to the Short-Term planning Team.
- Deliver economic 4 Year Budget Mine Schedules in Deswik Sched in collaboration with the Long-Term Planning Team.
- Design and verification of infrastructure, development and stope extraction plans in Deswik CAD.
- Identification of opportunities in the mid-term mine plan and formulating execution strategies to realise them.
- Perform reconciliation on executed mine plans to track design and operational performance for continuous improvement purposes.
- Ensure that any design or sequence changes are communicated and documented.
- Ensure minimal amount of design re-work for Short Term Planning Engineers
What we expect about you:
- A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or appropriate field
- Mine planning design and scheduling experience using Deswik or similar package.
- Knowledge of design requirements for development and stope designs in an underground hard rock environment.
- Experience in sub-level open stopping operations is desirable.
- The ability to work collaboratively with positive communication and problem-solving skills,
- an ability to meet deadlines.
