About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for a self-motivated Mining Leader to join Metro Mining’s Production Leadership Team.
Reporting to the Production Superintendent, the Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing on-site production and mine services activities. You will be responsible for aligning operations with the mine plan, achieving production and rehabilitation targets, and prioritising safety as the paramount consideration in all activities.
You will develop and maintain trusted relationships with all stakeholders, including Indigenous and Traditional Owner communities to support the ongoing partnerships with Metro Mining.
This role is a 15:13 FIFO roster arrangement and you must reside in Bamaga, Mapoon, Weipa, or Cairns.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily mining activities to meet production targets and quality standards.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and operational procedures.
- Provide leadership and guidance to a team of operators and labourers, promoting a positive work environment and high performance.
- Monitor equipment performance and maintenance schedules to minimise downtime and optimise productivity.
- Collaborate with management and other departments to address operational challenges, implement process improvements, and achieve operational excellence.
- Maintain accurate records of production activities, equipment usage, and safety incidents.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to support their professional development.
- Demonstrating a high standard of technical knowledge and leadership when dealing with employees, client representatives, contractors, and relevant stakeholders.
About you
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Relevant surface mining qualification or equivalent experience and knowledge.
- Cert IV Training & Assessment highly regarded
- S1, S2 & S3 (formerly G1, G8 & G9) competencies required
- RII Certificates in Haul Truck, Dozer, Excavator, Grader
- Minimum 5 years’ previous experience in a similar role/industry
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Proven work history in a mining operation with experience operating mobile mining plant
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, environmental standards, and best practices in mining operations.
- Well-developed leadership skills to effectively guide and support a crew of skilled operators in order to maintain a highly productive crew
- Ability to build positive relationships with your team and develop good team morale and engagement
- Effective problem-solving skills, clear verbal communication skills and the ability to handle competing demands
- Proven problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make informed decisions under pressure
