During the planning and construction phase of all projects, Bothar strives to maintain the public amenities to road, rail, seaway and utility services to ensure we meet the local community’s expectations. 

Bothar requires a Senior Supervisor/Superindentent to efficiently manage and coordinate all aspects of the project’s operations, ensuring timely and safe completion of tasks. This includes overseeing rosters, plant, and equipment, liaising between clients, management, and site crews, and ensuring that all resources are effectively utilized. The role is critical in maintaining high safety standards, facilitating clear communication, and driving the successful execution of multi-site operations over a 110km pipeline, ultimately contributing to the project’s overall success and timely delivery. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Manage rosters, plant, and equipment for the project. 
  • Coordinate work between the client, Bothar management, site supervisors, and crews. 
  • Ensure timely completion of project tasks by managing the program and engaging necessary resources. 
  • Oversee and coordinate several shaft and tunnelling crews across over 25 work sites along a 110km pipeline. 
  • Monitor and manage the depth of shafts ranging from 5m to 12m. 
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and standards. 
  • Provide leadership and support to site supervisors and crews. 
  • Maintain clear communication with all stakeholders. 
  • Handle logistics and coordination for 12-hour workdays over a 22-day on, 6-day off roster. 
  • Ensure accommodation and meal provisions, including LAFHA when necessary. 

Physical Demand 

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, typically up to 12 hours per day. 
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces such as construction shafts (up to 12m deep) and narrow tunnel diameters (approximately 1.4m). 
  • Frequent climbing in and out of deep shafts and onto machinery or equipment. 
  • Regular lifting and carrying of equipment, tools, and materials weighing up to 25 kgs. 
  • Handling tools and equipment with precision and care, often in tight or awkward spaces. 
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling to perform tasks in confined or low-clearance areas. 
  • Sustaining physical effort over long shifts (12 hours) and consecutive working days (22 days on, 6 days off). 
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and dust, as well as noisy construction environments. 
  • Regular use of PPE such as helmets, gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, and respirators. 
  • Maintaining coordination and balance while performing tasks on uneven terrain, scaffolding, and in confined spaces. 
  • Clear verbal communication in noisy environments, often requiring raised voices or radio use. 
  • Good vision for reading plans, operating machinery, and identifying safety hazards.

Quality Orientation/Attention to detail: Accomplishing tasks through concern for all areas involved in the project, regardless of size; showing concern for all aspects of the job; accurately checking processes and tasks; maintaining watchfulness for the length of the project.  

Safety, Health and Environment Awareness: Accomplish tasks with an awareness of Health and Safety concerning themselves and others, and their environment. Ability to assess the risks and hazards involved in tasks, and methods to manage the hazards in order to prevent incidents, injury and damage.   

Technical Knowledge: having achieved a satisfactory level of technical skills/knowledge and experience in job-related areas; keeping abreast of current developments and trends in area of expertise.  

Analysis/Problem Solving: Ability to secure relevant information and identify key issues and relationships; identify cause-effect relationships and readily develop solutions to workplace problems. 

Essential Criteria: 

Requirements: Drivers Licence, White card, Work Entitlement in Australia,   

Preferred: Confined spaces, Working at Heights, First Aid & CPR 

Experience: minimum 5years experience coordinating multiple crews across several workfronts, must be in Civil Construction industry, specifically in the pipeline industry highly preferred. 

Willing and able to work in confined spaces and at heights.
