The Role:
Join the innovative team managing Newmont Boddington Gold’s Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) - the World’s First Open Pit Gold AHS Operation. Develop your skills and gain experience operating innovative safety systems and technologies by being part of a dynamic team that is at the forefront of the gold mining industry. Your key to success will be the ability to deliver safer haulage operations and improved mining productivity, through reducing vehicle interactions and protecting people from operational hazards.
This role is responsible for the maintenance and repair of radio equipment onsite used by CAT Terrain and Fleet systems to ensure a safe and continuous mining operation.
Key Tasks Include:
- Providing support, system planning and troubleshooting for the mine’s communication infrastructure.
- Providing system administration for the Tait Digital Radio system used onsite.
- Working with the CAT Terrain and Fleet team to ensure reliable wireless communication exist across the mine to allow for effective system coverage.
- Providing Tier 1 support for the repair and maintenance of onboard CAT Terrain and Fleet
- Inspecting communications and electronic systems to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and business needs.
- Monitoring radio system performance and actively seek opportunities to continuous improvement.
- Working with Mine Planning to anticipate production movements to ensure sufficient network coverage is always maintained.
About You:
- Qualifications as a Communications Technician or equivalent trade.
- Post trade qualification experience.
- Proficiency in computer operation and application.
- Experience working with Fleet Management Systems such as MineStar, Modular or similar dispatch systems.
- Action orientated, organisation skills, problem solver and priority driven – able to get work done and make complex decisions and priortise outcomes in a timely manner.
