We're excited to welcome a dedicated Multicultural Education Aide to our team at Kolbe Catholic College, Greenvale Lakes. As a valued member of our community, you'll play a pivotal role in fostering cultural exchange, understanding, and supporting students from diverse backgrounds to thrive academically and socially.
Responsibilities:
- Support new arrival students in transitioning to the college and the Australian/Catholic school system.
- Provide personalized assistance to students facing language barriers.
- Cultivate cultural sensitivity and appreciation within the school community.
- Assist in establishing and coordinating the Community Hub, including developing programs for parents, families, and the wider community.
- Facilitate effective communication among parents, students, and staff of varying cultural backgrounds.
- Offer interpretation or translation services when required.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in English and at least one other language preferred (Assyrian, Chaldean, and/or Arabic advantageous).
- Competence in an English classroom setting, with prior experience considered a plus.
- Familiarity with the English Curriculum/VCE knowledge.
- Relevant Education Support Qualification or equivalent.
- Desirable NAATI endorsed qualification.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Understanding of diverse cultural practices and sensitivities.
- Patient, empathetic, and genuinely passionate about Multicultural Education.
- Preferred experience in student or educational settings.
Position Classification:
- Education Support Officer – Level 2 - Category B
- Fixed-term, part time position 0.2-0.5 on negotiation
- Hours: 8:20 am to 4:26 pm
