Media and Communication section delivers external and internal communication services and products on behalf of the Attorney-General's Department. This includes media management, strategic communication, online communication, internal communication, graphic design and advertising campaigns.We are seeking APS 6 officers to fill several vacancies, with responsibilities for each role outlined below. Successful candidates may also be invited to participate in the media on-call roster for additional remuneration.A merit pool is being established for anticipated vacancies over the next 18 months.Strategic communication officer responsibilities:
- Develop and implement communication strategies and products for key departmental projects and initiatives.
- Provide high-level communication advice and support to senior management and business areas.
- Develop and deliver creative, high-quality, multi-channel communication products including stakeholder packs, social media posts, digital content and other adhoc communication.
- Transform complex legislation and policy into informative and accessible content.
Web content editor responsibilities:
- Write and edit website content with exceptional attention to detail, applying APS Style Manual guidance and accessibility best practice.
- Coordinate and negotiate with content owners to deliver high quality online information and products, including online consultations.
- Provide advice on content design and structure, including website information architecture.
- Educate and support stakeholders to understand writing for the web and web content accessibility.
Media officer responsibilities:
- Under limited supervision coordinate media enquiry responses, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders and senior executives.
- Draft and edit media releases, talking points, Q&A documents etc.
- Participate in a (remunerated) on-call roster for media management, which may involve out-of-hours work including on some weekends and public holidays.
- Assist staff with media monitoring requirements.
Internal communication officer responsibilities:
- Source, draft, edit and coordinate content for the department’s internal newsletter and intranet.
- Provide strategic internal communication advice and support to the department’s senior leadership.
- Develop and deliver creative and effective internal communication strategies to support key corporate projects and initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with the department’s networks and committees to deliver internal communication activities and events.
Campaign officer responsibilities:
- Have experience delivering Australian Government advertising campaigns including assisting in developing, implementing and evaluating communication strategies.
- Provide support and advice to a range of stakeholders throughout all stages of the government advertising campaign process.
- Draft a range of communication documents and products, including campaign briefs and reports.
- Assist with contract, procurement and supplier management as well as provide support in managing project timelines and budgets.
