Wodonga Council is seeking a dynamic and experienced Municipal Building Surveyor to join its team in a part- or full-time capacity.

As this infrastructure is developed, the role of Municipal Building Surveyor will assist in ensuring it is compliant, of a high quality and in future-proofing our city.

About the role:
In this role, you will:
- Undertake building inspections throughout the required area to ensure compliance with building permits
- Undertake inspections to ensure public safety and that the structural integrity of buildings is being maintained
- Ensure compliance with its statutory obligations including roles and functions identified within building control policy
- Contribute in the preparation of the annual budget process and monitor the ongoing financials of the building department
- Lead and develop a high-performing team passionate about delivering exceptional customer focused, building services and sustainable regulatory environmental health.

Key Selection Criteria:
An ideal candidate will be able to show us the following.
- Extensive knowledge of, and proven ability to interpret and enforce relevant building control legislation including the Local Government Act, the Building Act, Building Code of Australia and any associated legislation, council policies and regulations;
- The authority of the position is in accordance with the Wodonga Council instrument of Delegation to Council Members of staff.
- Strong focus and commitment to delivering high quality customer service and maintain confidentiality at all times;
- Demonstrated ability to investigate and prepare clear and concise reports on complex building issues; and
- Proven ability to work effectively in a multi skilled team environment and work independently in the field with minimum supervision.

Prior to commencement, the successful applicant will be required to provide the following.
- A copy of a recent National Police Check (less than 3 months)
- A current driver’s licence
- Any other mandatory requirements outlined in the position description (eg. first aid, CPR, WWCC, forklift).
The completion of a pre-employment functional assessment (paid for by the council) might also be required.
If applicable, evidence regarding right to work in Australia will need to be presented.
