Language Disorder Australia currently has a fantastic opportunity available for a Music Teacher.

This is a 12 months contracted role with possibility for extension.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the classroom music curriculum from prep to Year 12.
  • Design and implement programs and strategies to address the educational needs of students with identified language and associated difficulties. 
  • Embed the use of technologies throughout the music curriculum. 
  • Approach learning tasks in a proactive manner that creates a safe and supportive learning environment for diverse learners. 
  • In collaboration with other relevant team members, develop personalised learning plans (PLP) and provide high quality educational programs to address PLP goals for specified students at the school and prepare semester reports for each student. 
  • Partner and collaborate with various colleagues; including, Music Therapists and Teachers, to organise performances and music for school events. 
  • Establish and lead co-curricular music activities including choirs. 
  • Accompany instrumental students and ensembles, as required. 
  • Participate in school decision-making processes and professional development activities within and beyond Language Disorder Australia. 

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in Education
  • Current or eligible to obtain Queensland College of Teachers registration.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills necessary for productive working relationships with staff, families and community members.
  • Ability to work individually, as well as working effectively in teams, including the ability to set realistic work goals, manage time-lines and establish work priorities to ensure deadlines and commitments are met. 

About Mancel College 

Mancel College is a specialist Prep to Year 12 school for students with Language Disorder. Our students come from far and wide, with many of our families becoming part of the local community or commuting from the wider Brisbane area. The College is operated by Language Disorder Australia.

Our expert team of teachers, therapists and support staff at Mancel College ensures that our students fulfil their learning and communication potential while overcoming barriers, allowing them to become confident, independent people, achieving extraordinary outcomes.
