Myeloma Support Nurse - Myeloma Australia (Myeloma Foundation of Australia Inc)

Join our growing SA team working as part of our National Myeloma Support Nurse network:

  • Providing support & education to myeloma patients and their carers, in the community
  • Contributing to educational events, publications and myeloma related advocacy issues
  • Based in SA 
  • Permanent part time - 30.4 hours per fortnight

22,000 Australians are living with myeloma. A blood cancer, that up to recently wasn’t well known at all. We are looking to engage a highly motivated nurse to work with the current SA Myeloma Support Nurse as we grow our services and team in SA. 

About the role

Reporting to the Nursing & Community Programs Lead, you will work collaboratively with a small enthusiastic team. Specific responsibilities include:

  • To provide support and assistance to patients, relatives and carers via our telephone support line (1800 MYELOMA)
  • Provide support & guidance to SA Information and Support Groups
  • Help organise, plan and present patient & carer workshops and seminars within SA
  • Participate in educational events for patients and carers in regional and metropolitan centres
  • Deliver myeloma related education to health professionals within SA

About the position

  • Four days per fortnight (flexible days)
  • Work with experienced Myeloma Support Nurses locally and interstate

Your experience and skills

  • A registered nurse with at least three years' experience in clinical oncology/haematology
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of cancer with an interest in haematology
  • Experience in dealing with patients, carers and health professionals
  • Have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and empathetic nature
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a small team
  • Computer skills including use of Microsoft Office and databases
