About the role

The National Commercial Strategy Manager is accountable for overseeing the financial performance of the Liquor Operations Team and providing insight and governance to spend requests, budgeting and performance to cost lines impacting the P&L.

You'll also:

  • End to end accountability for all Operations P&L cost lines, including REM, Total Loss and Expenses
  • End to end management of the Operations P&L identifying any commercial risks and opportunities
  • Provide insights and actionable advice into drivers of performance to improve EBIT, State/Area/Store performance, cost decretive initiatives, Loss, Security and compliance
  • Ensure payroll and security measures are in place to deliver a safe trading environment
  • Manage security controls in stores to ensure they meet required stock and team member personal safety standards
  • Lead commercial and operational strategy and challenge around key contract negotiations and long-term relationships, e.g. EBA negotiations, guidance and mitigation strategy
  • Provide and/or facilitate ongoing coaching and technical skill development for direct reports, with targeted mentoring for high-potential team members
About you and your skills

You are an experienced people leader, with proven track record of leading, coaching and motivating teams and working cross-functionally to deliver projects, ideally within a retail business with multiple sites of varying size, format, performance and complexity.

You'll also have:

  • Exceptional knowledge of Operational costs, including strategies to mitigate and control costs
  • Experience managing successful programs and large-scale business initiatives
  • Experience working collaboratively with support functions to uncover insights and drive performance
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully with senior management to deploy initiatives aligned to business objectives and effectively manage transformational change
  • Retail system expertise and track record of working closely with IT team in implementing change
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and engender confidence and support at all levels of the business
