Our opportunity

The National Lease Administration Manager is accountable for overseeing the legal and technical delivery of Lease Administration functions across Asset Management which encompasses office, industrial and retail. The role is primarily focused on Retail Leasing, with the opportunity to support office, industrial and Build to Rent teams. The focus is on ensuring that key internal and external stakeholder relationships are maintained, and a seamless and efficient Lease Administration service is delivered.

The National Lease Administration Manager works along side the Director Retail Leasing, National Manager Retail Design & Delivery and the Asset Teams to ensure the leased to open process is as efficient as possible so revenue is maximized.

The National Lease Administration Manager is a strong people leader with a legal background and experience in lease negotiation and documentation, team management and experience in implementing strategic improvements to enhance business productivity.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide legal advice and technical support to the leasing team in the negotiation of retail leases.
  • Lead by example and oversee the Lease Administration function ensuring timely negotiation and execution of all lease and associated documentation, consistency in approach and that the team operate within KPIs and appropriate timeframes
  • Ongoing technical training and mentoring for the Lease Administration team
  • Ensure Lease Administration team is continually operating in alignment towards the priorities of the leasing strategies and development programme for each asset
  • Fully conversant with the commercial and retail leases act(s) and ensure that all negotiations comply with the act and other relevant legislation.
  • Ability to structure and document lease clauses to minimize risk for owners, maximise revenue and deliver the intended outcomes for the lessor/lessee
  • Review signed HOA, prepare LAF and submit for approval by internal/ external stakeholders
  • Instruct and engage with panel lawyers in the administration of lease documentation and ensure lease documentation is prepared and negotiated in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Provide leadership to inspire and motivate the portfolio teams to develop their collective strengths, skills and knowledge, while fostering high levels of engagement and performance
  • Champion the consistent application of the key Mirvac values, leading by example and promoting a high performing and collaborative environment
  • Lead a culture of accountability and high performance, acting as an ambassador for Mirvac's values, ensuring strong levels of engagement, retention and cross-business collaboration
  • Provide leadership to the team including resource management to achieve optimal and efficient team structure, setting goals and objectives (KPI's), knowledge sharing & input into capability development of people, communication to foster engagement, and succession planning
  • Accountable for managing relationships with key internal (Legal, Leasing, Portfolio Managers and asset teams) and external stakeholders
  • Manage and continually engage with appointed external lawyers to achieve desired outcomes through providing the most

Your point of difference

  • Relevant tertiary level qualifications - Law or Commerce/Law essential
  • 15+ years in relevant in house legal / Lease Administration / leasing business partner positions
  • Property transactions/ technical leasing administration experience essential
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong commercial relationships with national tenants
  • Ability to think strategically, adapt to change, deal with ambiguity and complexity
  • Ability to manage and lead a high performance and outcomes-oriented team of professionals
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach with the ability to solve problems, improve system and procedural efficiency and effectiveness, and resolve issues as they arise
  • A curious mind that can navigate the legal landscape and drive superior commercial outcomes
  • Exceptional communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills
