National Procurement and Contracts Manager

About the role

Reporting to and working closely with the Deputy Chief Financial Officer and the National Executive, you will play a key role in the existing team and have a great opportunity to influence the future growth of this dynamic and exciting organisation.

The primary responsibility of the National Procurement and Contracts Manager is to provide Procurement and contract advice. You will be responsible for transforming the procurement approach and driving a unified procurement process across the organisation.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Manage the planning, development, and negotiation of procurement activities for Clinical Labs in a client focussed and transparent manner including subsequent contract management to ensure the ongoing performance of suppliers and that obligations are fulfilled. 
  • Delivery of Clinical Labs Procurement and contract management activities, covering a broad range of categories and you will be the designated contract manager for major contracts.  The role will be required to work closely with Suppliers and internal stakeholders to manage the ongoing operation of the contracts.
  • You will develop appropriate KPI/SLA's and reporting mechanisms for contracts and ensure that supplier performance is met against these metrics for each category. 
  • The National Procurement and Contracts Manager provides expert advice to colleagues to ensure that all legislative and organisational requirements are complied with during an end-to-end procurement activity. 
  • The role will be responsible for managing procurement process relating to day-to-day procurement as well as establishing contracts, standing offer arrangements and panel arrangements, with a view towards maximising efficiencies in both process and cost 
  • Whilst also supporting the development of best practice in strategic sourcing, expenditure analysis Procurement and supply chain strategies that optimise value for Clinical Labs from the vendor market. 
  • The role is also responsible for contract management, supplier and stakeholder meetings, invoice reconciliation, supplier performance reviews and meetings, and negotiating contract variations throughout the contracted term

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and have the ability to effectively and professionally communicate with employees, peers, medical professionals and the general public.

You will be a strategic planner and lateral thinker developing a vision for the future and be able to analyse research data and translate this into day-to-day activities. You will also be good at developing others as and where necessary and be particularly well organised to be able to prioritise and balance the needs of all Procurement and Contracts customers both internal and external.

You will have a minimum of five years’ experience in senior Procurement and/or contract management position. You must be able to demonstrate your ability to successfully manage large scale procurement activities including supplier negotiation. You will need to manage the involvement of multiple parties, planning, prioritising and implementing an end-to-end procurement service. Your ability to use your high level conceptual and analytical skills to resolve complex procurement issues in alignment with the overall strategic plan of a large complex organisation is a key part of this role.

A working knowledge of TechnologyOne’s Contract Management and Supply Chain Management Solution software would be a great benefit in this role.
