National Project Manager (Early Education) – 2 Year Contract Full Time
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to work with the national peak body for family day care on a Commonwealth Government funded Trial to build capability and capacity in the family day care sector across Australia. Family day care is an approved form of early childhood education where educators work from their own home. Family Day Care Australia (FDCA), the national peak body for family day care, is seeking to recruit a Project Manager for a 2-year (approx.) contract, with a possibility of extension through FDCA.
The primary focus for this role is to provide operational support to the Advocacy and Engagement team at FDCA in the successful delivery of a sector support project to assist family day care services and educators.
The project will involve consultation, research, development, liaison with sub-contractors and implementation of resources, to support the sector, and a reporting and evaluation piece.
Applicants will be required to demonstrate the following experience, capabilities, knowledge and skills:
Essential:
- Demonstrated effective project management skills to ensure successful delivery of large / national multi-streamed projects; meeting project objectives and milestones on-time and on-budget while managing competing priorities
- Advanced communication and inter-personal skills, including excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to quickly establish rapport with key external stakeholders
- Experience in the execution / implementation of a government funded project
- Proven ability in developing and implementing project evaluations and in project reporting
- Ability to work effectively in a small team environment, remotely or on site
- Demonstrated high-level administration skills
- Highly proficient in MS Office Suite of products
Desirable:
- Demonstrated experience in the early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector in Australia, particularly in family day care
- Understanding of Family Assistance Law (FAL) obligations, especially with regard to the administration of Child Care Subsidy (CCS) Awareness of and experience with an approved children’s service administration system (such as Harmony or similar)
- Understanding of the National Quality Framework (NQF) and requirements governing the ECEC sector
- Proven ability to develop tools, resources and guidance materials informed through consultation with key stakeholders
- Demonstrated understanding of the Australian Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) sector, and the family day care sector specifically

FDCA will offer the successful candidate a 2-year contract full time role with the option to work from home, if suitable.
Key duties include:
- leading the implementation of a national, Commonwealth Government funded, multi-streamed project to trial mechanisms to support growth of the family day care sector in regional areas and improve business payment integrity practice through technological solutions
- developing relevant project implementation plans and coordinating activities across a number of workstreams
- monitoring and reporting on project plans, milestones and deliverables
- overseeing the development, delivery and trial of tools, resources, policies and procedures aimed at building capacity among family day care providers and educators
- Communicating with relevant internal and external stakeholders to provide updates regarding project status and relevant implementation issues
- providing a range of administrative services to support project delivery, including contributing to project progress reports to government
