Our client is dedicated to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members in accessing essential services, including the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), and linking them with local resources. They are committed to providing culturally competent care and fostering community engagement and empowerment.
We are currently recruiting for an NDIS Aboriginal Access & Community Linkage worker who will play a pivotal role in facilitating access to the NDIS and other local services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members.
The position involves community engagement, education, individual capacity building, and coaching, with a focus on ensuring culturally appropriate and effective support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate co-production activities and develop tools/resources to enhance NDIS access for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
- Provide direct support and secondary consults to community members seeking NDIS access.
- Participate in co-production working groups and provide monthly progress reports to the steering group.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of community toolkits and reports.
- Engage participants in NDIS service planning, delivery, and evaluation, ensuring cultural competency.
- Foster relationships with external agencies for the benefit of clients and the organisation.
- Collaborate with internal partners to streamline intake, assessment, and referral processes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, standards, policies, and procedures, including data management and reporting requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultures and communities.
- Experience in community engagement, education, and advocacy.
- Knowledge of the NDIS framework and service delivery models.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Relevant qualifications in community services, social work, or a related field.
