We are seeking caregivers with experience providing care for spinal cord injuries, bowel management, dysphagia, and manual handling in the GERALDTON area.
This role will involve providing 2:1 support twice per day, as well as 1:1 assistance throughout daytime hours. Ideal candidates will be dedicated professionals capable of meeting intensive care needs in the GERALDTON area.
This role would be perfect for people who need to work around other commitments.
Generally, we expect our Support Workers to:- Providing care for spinal cord injuries, bowel management, dysphagia, and manual handling.
- Support our participants to achieve their NDIS Goals, whilst always demonstrating dignity and respect for our participants.
- Maintain an understanding of the participant's needs and overall wellbeing.
- Provide personal support when needed, including administering medication, personal hygiene, and appearance.
- Communicate and engage with the participants in a relevant and meaningful way while encouraging the participant to communicate and engage with others.
- Daily living skills including support with cooking, budgeting, social skills, and more.
- Community participation in travelling to and from activities and outings.
- Ensure all supports and services provided are accurately documented and accounted for through rostering app, case notes and incident reporting.
- Basic housework including cleaning and meal preparation.
- Implementation of therapy goals as required.
- Minimum Certificate III in Individual Support, Community Services, or related discipline.
- Direct care experience with spinal cord injuries, dysphagia, and bowel management.
- Current driver's licence and reliable insured vehicle.
- NDIS Worker Screening check, or willingness to obtain one.
- Working With Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one.
- Valid First Aid / CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
- Passion for disability support aligned with Helping Solutions values.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous disability support experience welcomed.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, overnights and weekends as needed.
- Local to or willing to relocate to the Geraldton area.
- Desirable Criteria
- Autonomous self-starter who thrives in collaborative settings.
- Previous experience in disability support, mental health, aged care, or a related field.
- We welcome candidates who demonstrate initiative and the ability to work effectively both independently and alongside others. A background working with vulnerable people is advantageous.
