About the role
In this position, you provide operational expertise in the management of the water, recycled water, wastewater and/or storm water systems to minimise customer impact of daily operations and achieve regulatory requirements. You work in a great team to achieve best outcomes for our customers. The role is Monday to Friday, where a team of three (3) covers a span of hours from 7am to 6pm.

- Operating assets and/or systems for the delivery of water and wastewater that meets customer and stakeholder expectations
- Use of technology to support daily operations, display operational data, predict asset failures and/or customer/environmental impact
- Complying with relevant Operating Licence, Customer Contract and other regulatory requirements including EPA
- Identifying the root cause of operational issues and implementing improvements to address them.
- Contributing to improving the resilience of the water and/or wastewater network by identifying network configuration improvements
- Leading the development and management of beneficial relationships with delivery partners
- Preparation of operations and/or maintenance work programs
- Promoting effective delivery of work program, identifying deficiencies and influencing corrective actions as required
- Interpret customer requirements and incorporate these into improved processes
- Effectively communicating and dealing with customer enquiries and complaints (including Ministerial and Special Inquiries) in a coordinated and expeditious manner
- Leading risk assessments and the development of contingency plans to mitigate consequences of process and/or assets and/or operating system failures and/or security risks
- Developing and implementing shutdown and/or flow management plans which minimise disruption and safety risks utilising asset isolation procedures
- Monitoring product, system operations and/or maintenance performance, reviewing and analysing data to ensure operational intelligence
About you
- A tertiary qualification in engineering or related discipline and/or proven experience in operations, maintenance/renewals or treatment/quality aspects of water and/or recycled water and/or wastewater and/or storm water systems
- Demonstrated experience in the measurement, analysis and evaluation of water and/or recycled water and/or wastewater and/or storm water system performance and the development of strategies and work programs to improve performance
- Highly developed problem solving, lateral thinking, communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Highly developed skills in the use of business intelligence systems, geospatial information systems, asset management systems, data visualisation systems and emerging smart water network technology
- Proven ability to work and support a team in a fast-paced reactive environment
- Thorough knowledge of the appropriate Regulatory requirements
- A solid understanding of the application of computerized system and/or maintenance and/or process management systems.
- Extensive experience in developing and reviewing complex reports, strategies or plans for Regulators, Stakeholders or Senior Management
- Extensive experience in ability to develop and undertake research and investigation proposals to identify variation, compliance with standards and improvement opportunities
- Advanced communication skills (verbal & written) and personal qualities (innovative, motivation, self-confidence and tact) including ability to translate technical outcomes to operational needs
Additional notes:
- You must have a current driver’s licence or can obtain one immediately
- You will be required to work across the full span of hours 7:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday within an early start late finish roster
- You must be available to work outside normal working hours, either from home, office or in the field as required
