A large organisation is on the lookout for a Network Technician to join their Sydney team on a permanent basis. The purpose for the role is to take a lead in the Take a lead in the upgrade and optimisation of all network systems across the whole business. Strong focus on implementing and maintaining IP, MPLS, switched and optical networks and assisting with the delivery of new services. Key Accountabilities:
- The role will predominantly involve fault diagnostics and restoration, planned works management and the support and maintenance of the Network. The position will also involve some service commissioning and spares management.
- Be the front line to diagnose and restore services that are in a fault condition. The faults can be on dark fibre, passive CWDM and DWDM multiplexers, Metro Ethernet or customer Ethernet equipment. The faults can also be on long haul DWDM transmission and core IP routers.
- Perform post fault analysis and reports to assist in identifying areas of concern and benefit faster resolution of future network issues.
- Attend data centres, remote sites and customer premises to replace or install new equipment
- Ensure network availability and performance to meet Service Level Agreements
Experience Required:
- Proven experience in a Networking Technician type of role in a large organisation (telecommunications experience highly regarded)
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of network switching, routing and transmission technologies
- Significant experience with operational processes and procedures including: electronic communication, documentation and ticket systems; and planned installations and maintenance
- Proven customer service experience with an ability to connect with stakeholders at all levels
