Remuneration:
Remuneration value up to $514,452 p.a. comprising salary between $9,390.20 p.f. - $9,924.00 p.f. (L25-L27) or remuneration value up to $470,780 p.a. comprising salary between $7,827.20 p.f. - $9,091.70 p.f. (L18-L24); employer superannuation contribution (up to 12.75%), annual leave loading (17.5%), attraction and retention incentive allowance, professional development allowance, professional development leave 3.6 weeks p.a., professional indemnity cover, plus overtime and on-call allowances.
This role is to guide the provision of quality Neurology services. This includes outpatient clinics, inpatient consultation to medical teams, and being a clinical lead for the acute and subacute stroke service. The job is well supported by the neurology department at Townsville Hospital, Mackay's tertiary referral centre, who also provide endovascular clot retrieval for eligible patients. Active involvement in their teaching program and regular clinics/procedural clinics at Townsville encouraged, alongside the ability to do procedural work such as Botox injections on site. Neurophysiology (NCS/EEG) services are performed on site and reported in Townsville. You will work as a part of the General Medicine department and report to the Clinical Director of Medicine. Currently, we provide the following outpatient clinics: General Neurology clinics and Botulinum Toxin clinics for chronic migraines. Applicants will be supported if they want to run other specialised clinics also.
Your role
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Queensland Public Service and the Mackay HHS Values as outlined above and

- Understand your accountability to uphold the principles and practices of the Health Service's Health and Safety Management System in accordance with legislation and industry standards. As a supervisor actively promote good health and safety practices to staff of your work area.
- Carry out work in accordance with prescribed practices and procedures and in a manner that will not create health and safety hazards for yourself or others in the workplace.
- Provide appropriate evidence-based neurology services to inpatients at MBH, phone consultations to other regional sites under MHHS.
- Provide appropriate evidence-based neurology services to outpatient clinics in neurology.
- Preferable if able to run a service providing botulinum toxin therapy for chronic migraine.
- Preferable if able to report EEGs, Nerve Conduction studies and EMGs.
- Participate in stroke committee forum meetings.
- Attend seminars and conferences to maintain up to date knowledge, skills and best practices and to maintain RACP mandated requirements.
- Participate in the department's Quality Assurance Program such as participation n morbidity-mortality meetings, practice audits like stroke audits etc.
- Conduct the education programme by contributing to delivery of teaching medical students, registrars, RMOs, Interns and other health professional within MHHS through teaching sessions, seminars etc.
