About the role: 

Join us in a dynamic role where you'll thrive in both paediatric outpatient and adult inpatient wards over four 6.5-hour days each week. This unique opportunity is tailor-made for ambitious individuals looking to broaden their expertise and achieve personal growth. You will spend two days per week at Cessnock District Hospital's Paediatric Outpatient Department, focusing on care for children with communication disorders. This role involves assessment, therapy, and liaising with external stakeholders such as NDIS and preschools to ensure comprehensive patient care and seamless referrals. The remaining two days will be based at Maitland Hospital and will be dedicated to refining your skills in adult care, deepening your understanding and proficiency in managing dysphagia and communication issues among adult patients. This includes working with a shared inpatient caseload and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team setting.

We are located approximately 15 minutes from the Hunter Expressway, 25 minutes from John Hunter Hospital and central Newcastle and in close proximity to the New England Highway, other major link roads, an existing train station and public transport routes.

About you: 

  • This role is suited to someone who has less than 12 months experience in a clinical setting and looking to expand their knowledge

Requirements and additional information: 

  • Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in speech pathology which provides eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Experience working with an adult caseload, including experience in management of adult dysphagia.
  • An eligibility list will be created for future temporary full or part time vacancies.
