Form of workThe Australian HR Institute (AHRI) is the professional body for Human Resources.
AHRI is a community of committed and expert HR professionals who support each other and their chosen profession. AHRI also sets HR standards and certifies HR professionals across Australia – they strongly believe that uplifting the practice of HR benefits people, workplaces, and organisations across Australia.
AHRI members undertake continuing development to maintain their professional status, so that they are up to date with regulatory requirements, HR best practice, and emerging HR and workplace issues.
The AHRI Board
AHRI's Board of Directors is responsible for the governance of AHRI and executes this responsibility independently and in the best interests of the organisation and its members. Among its range of activities, AHRI’s Board sets AHRI’s strategy, goals and objectives in partnership with the executive team, approves and monitors the organisation’s performance, and monitors risk, compliance, its governance framework and capital budgets as well as other formal activities.
Non-Executive Directors are also involved in the subcommittees and specialist Advisory Panels that have been established by the Board.
Board members are expected to attend meetings through the year and represent the organisation in the external environment, developing relationships and advocating for the organisation and its members.
The Role
The successful candidate will be an individual with extensive experience at a senior executive level in Human Resources within the Public Sector in Australia. In addition, they will demonstrate the following:
- Ability to contribute to Board discussion by providing appropriate challenge and intellectual analysis, while keeping the focus on strategic issues;
- The desire to promote and champion the organisation externally;
- Demonstration of the highest ethical standards of integrity and probity;
- The capacity to display superior, independent judgement considering corporate governance and changes in the external environment;
- An ability to contribute to the evolution and implementation of AHRI’s strategy;
