Where you'll be workingPrince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.The Nurse Manager Staffing Grade 4, Prince of Wales Hospital will ensure the operations of staffing will be maintained and is managed effectively and efficiently. This includes responsibilities for coordination of patient services, operational management and nursing staff management, consistent with the strategic directions of SESLHD. The Nurse Manager Staffing is responsible for the leadership of the Nurse Bank, pool of casual nurses and Ward persons employed within the Prince of Wales Hospital. The incumbent is responsible for the recruitment, performance management, professional development and overall leadership of all nurse bank, casual nursing and support related staff. The Nurse Manager Staffing liaises and networks with relevant external nursing agencies for labor supply on an as needs basis. The Nurse Manager Staffing works in close liaison with the Nurse Manager Workforce Planning & Development and contributes to the strategic planning of the workforce at Prince of Wales Hospital. The Nurse Manager Staffing has responsibility for the overall management of the Nursing Staffing Sector incorporated in the Operations centre, including payroll management, reconciliation of invoices and agency accounts and in monitoring and maintaining nursing rostering and key performance indicators. The Nurse Manager Staffing will liaise with the Nursing Unit Managers/Nurse Managers to ensure the day to day staffing requirements and skill-mix is appropriate within Prince of Wales hospital and is reflective of patient acuity and staff vacancies. The Nurse Manager Staffing will monitor all casual staff utilisation, overtime and FTEs and will be responsible for the provision of regular staffing reports to the Director of Nursing and the Deputy Director of Nursing. The Nurse Manager of Staffing is responsible for ensuring NSW Nursing and midwifery Award requirements are met.Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.All Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.SESLHD is committed to creating a workplace that reflects the diversity of our community.   • Registered Nurse who holds current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Recognised tertiary management qualifications of evidence of substantial completion of same, and evidence of recent professional development to further enhance leadership and management competencies.
  • Broad clinical and operational experience within a complex health care environment, with demonstrated knowledge of staff recruitment processes and in the management of a casual workforce.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal, written and negotiation skills with an aptitude to utilise relevant information technology platforms and ability to provide clear and concise plans and reports.
  • Sound knowledge of current clinical practice, its delivery and models of care and the ability to motivate, inspire and lead staff to achieve service and professional goals.
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial, NHPPD and FTE management.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate and incorporate where appropriate emerging trends within the profession of nursing.
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of change management principles and achievements of measurable outcomes.
