The St John Urgent Care Centres

St John Urgent Care offers high quality, medical treatment for walk-in patients with non-life-threatening injuries or illnesses. Staffed by a team of highly skilled doctors and nurses treating a range of urgent medical needs. We have six metro clinics Joondalup, Midland, Osborne Park, Cannington, Cockburn, and Armadale, the centres are operated 7 days a week, 8am - 10pm, supported and promoted by the renowned St John brand, and integrated into the network of healthcare services offered by St John in order to ensure vibrant, connected workplaces with a constant flow of patients.

Your unique opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Nurse Practitioner for a casual contract working in our Cockburn, Cannington & Armadale centres. The ideal individual will have a passion for providing supportive and patient focused clinical care within a primary health care setting, focusing on improving health outcomes for our patients. This position would suit an individual who enjoys wearing multiple hats throughout the week and thrive off diversity and change.

What you will be doing:

You will need to be adventurous by nature and thoroughly professional in your ability to work both autonomously and within a tightly knit, multi-disciplinary health care team. Your skills that will be highly regarded:

  • Fracture management
  • Clinical examination
  • X-ray interpretation
  • Suturing and wound management
  • Assessment of minor eye injuries
  • Orthopaedics
  • Casting or splinting of musculoskeletal injuries.
  • Excellent time management
  • The ability to recognise and safely redirect presentations beyond the scope of the Urgent Care Centres.

Knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • Nurse Practitioner with current AHPRA registration
  • At least 24 months experience working within emergency settings.
  • Current CPR certificate - essential
  • Current Immunisation Certificate - essential
  • Highly organised with the ability to take responsibility for and manage own workload.
  • Knowledge of Best Practice software highly desirable
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Police Clearance (no more than 3 months old)
